For the Irony

http://www.myspace.com/fortheirony

What's the meaning behind the band's name?
1. The true meaning behind the band's name was in response to some criticism we received as teenagers. We come from a small town of a 1,000 people where the status quo is golden. So, when the drug free ribbons were being passed around our school and we had them on people would come up to us and stereotype us because of our long hair/counter culture views, etc. So we did it for the irony of it all. It also describes the irony of young kids digging into their parents generation as a means of rebellion against our own generation.

What's the message to transmit with your music??
2. Our message is, "Hey. We know how you feel. Been there too. Wanna reminisce?"

What's your method at the time of writting a song??
Usually our front man or one of our guitarists write the lyrics and basic chord progression. Then they bring it in and we refine it and add our own parts too it. But lately, we've been working more collectively on writing. Especially for our upcoming album.

Which is your music influences??
Our influences are wide and deep. We really get down on Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks. John Mayer and The Black Crows are two others we like. But each of us have a wide variety. Jarrod loves Coltrane and Robert Johnson. Zach and Justin are infatuated with Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimi Hendrix. You could catch anything from Janis Joplin to Sublime to Les Claypool and Tyler's Ipod and Tanner will likely be jamming a Matt Abts record somewhere.

What plans do you guys have for the future??
In March we're doing a mid-western tour and in the fall we're doing a mountain tour. When winter rolls around we'll begin recording our 2nd CD.

Which has been the funniest prank you guys have been or took part while on tour or after a show??
I (Jarrod) threw a party at our old band rehearsal spot one night after a big gig to find out that Zach pissed in my sink. Eventually I found out he marks his territory in many places!

If you guys were stranded in the middle of nowhere after a show or while on tour. The help is 65 miles away from where you guys are, ¿Who would you guys send to look for help? And if while the rest wait, there's no food and the only way to feed yourself is by eating each other, ¿Who would you eat first?
We would definitely send Tyler for help. He's the most persuasive when it comes to getting things done. If we had to eat someone it would be Justin. 1st off he's the youngest, so naturally he's the better tasting one of the bunch and 2. Jarrod can cook ANYTHING over a campfire.

Which country you guys would love to play?
I personally would love to play Rockaplast in Germany or maybe at Glastonbury. Although anything close to the Netherlands would be just fine :)

With which bands you guys would love to share stage??
We would kill for the chance to play with Government Mule. Although we'd be more than ecstatic to share the stage with The Derek Trucks Band.

Are you guys OK, with the direction the band is going actually?
We're happy with our new direction. It's a return to our original sound. We had a year or two where we experimented with improv and jam band textures. We've found our niche and it's not so much hippie as hip neck. We're headed in the right direction but we still have a mountain in our way.
